A true friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire.
– Francois de La Rochefoucauld
I had an amazingly chill day with these quirky people which I have not seen in forever. Our initial plan to go out for lunch and catch up morphed into them crashing my place. I believe the true meaning of “catch up” could only be depicted in what happened next. We intended to watch a movie on the laptop but after getting comfortable and pausing the movie a few times to comment or say something, we gave up on the idea of finishing that movie just because we had so much to say to one another.
We then battled crazy popping corn kernels that never knew were strong enough to actually pop open a closed lid on the pan.. Ate plastic-y popcorn that tasted all right in small batches, but thanks to my perfect estimation skills, we ended up with a huge box of popcorn and neither of us knew how to season it.
It is just so heart-warming to see my friends, curled up under the blanket, huddled together in front of the computer screen, laughing while watching Running Man.
It makes me so happy to know that I have friends who I can be comfortable around and be entirely myself without them loving me any less. Despite us not having the chance to meet up often, the moment we do, it is like picking up from the time we left. I also find comfort in knowing that these friends will be my constants.
Let’s be real, these people came in on their own when I was showering, Jess opened the fridge and dug for food the moment she came, they knocked relentlessly on my room door as I was getting changed (annoying the heck out of me, but I still love them no less). I can conclude that the measure of friendship is how comfortable you can be around that person and today was the epitome of CHILL.
Also, Feng An ORDs today!!!! 😄 Time has passed so quickly and I’m so proud of you. You’ve adapted to countless circumstances that were not in your favour, made great friends and definitely grown huge muscles in this span of two years. I’m glad we’ll no longer have to deal with book-in(s) anymore! Also, there is no longer a need to take leave to go overseas!!!! Time to find a job, Buddy. Let’s go.
